Rustica Past |
La
Rustica was founded when two Italian sisters, Anna and Esterina,
and their husbands migrated to Australia in the late 1960's
and quickly established themselves on the Gold Coast after
a short stint in Melbourne. Not being able to find a "decent
pizza", Anna and Nicola Lapenna decided to open their
own restaurant in Surfers Paradise North, "La Rustica",
while Esterina and Marcello Prosperi opened their's on the
south side of Surfers Paradise, "Via Venato". |
| After
several years of running their successful restaurants, the couples
respectively sold their businesses. Anna and Nicola went on
to purchase another restaurant, "Bellissimo"
in Broadbeach which they owned and ran until retirement in 2006.
Esterina and Marcello also bought another restaurant, "Leaning
Tower" on Tedder Ave, Main Beach. This is where Barbara
and Stefano got their passion for the restaurant business. Unfortunately,
due to poor health, Esterina and Marcello retired and sold the
business. |
| Barbara
and Stefano went on to work for their aunty Anna at Bellissimo
and remained there for seven years until the Lapenna's retirement.

| Desperate
to have her own restaurant and continue in the hospitality industry
with her gained experience and passion, Barbara, along with
her partner Sam and brother Stefano, grabbed an opportunity
too hard to resist, the purchase of the original family restaurant,
La Rustica. |

| La
Rustica Italian Restaurant still has it's original, rustic character
and sirenic charm, and is still serving some of the best pizzas
and Italian cuisine on the coast, but with an added culinary
delight thanks to Barbara's Turkish partner, Sam. You will find
Turkish cuisine scattered throughout the menu and the locals
are loving it, being able to choose from their Italian favourites
or try something new and exotic. The Authentic Turkish Delight
as an after dinner treat is always enjoyed after the generous
and delicious culinary experience you will undoubtedly have
at this welcoming and friendly family run restaurant. |
